The DORDOGNE,
The former province of the PERIGORD is now known as the Dordogne. Between Paris and Pyrenees, midway between Pole and Equator, the region is crossed by the Transeuropean road and the 45th parallel. Its location gives it a particulary mild climate, pleasant in all seasons.
It is a land of rich variety, set betwen ocean, continental and mountain areas. The gentle hues of such diversity are symbolised by the four colours of the Perigord, four regions in one.

Dordogne Périgord : le pays de l'homme


The PERIGORD BLANC, "pays de Périgueux et Vallée de l'Isle", is a region of limestone plateaux, wide valleys and rolling meadows crossed by the rivers Auvézère and Isle. From Montpon, induding the county town of Périgueux, the region also features towns of interest such as Savignac-les-Eglises, Sorges with its truffles, Saint-Astier, Neuvic and Mussidan.

Downstream Dordogne discover the PERIGORD POURPRE, "Pays du grand Bergeracois et des Bastides", a new "appellation" strikly "contrôlée" in the région of Bergerac. In the land of the philoser Montaigne, Wine and tobacco reign, and French & English "bastides" or fortified villages recall a page of history wherre life was organised and lived so differently.

The PERIGORD NOIR, "pays du sarladais et de la Vézère" overlooks the valleys of the Vézère and the Dordogne. These timeless, breathtaking landscapes have been handed down from Prehistory. Montignac, Lascaux, Font-de-Gaume, Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, Terrasson, Saint-Cyprien and Sarlat are the highspots chiming out a delightful harmony. The route down the historic valley of the Dordogne is dotted with castles such as Montfort, Beynac Castelnaud...


To the north, the PERIGORD VERT, "pays du Nontronnais du Val de Dronne", with its Natural Park Regional Périgord-Limousin, offers a greenery of verdant growth and valleys in a region crossed by miriad of rivers and streams. The Dronne, Tthe Bandiat, the hogh valleys of the rivers Isle and Auvézère strech from Lanouaille to la Roche-Chalais, encompassing Nontron, Brantôme and Ribérac.
